Where the german dental clinic is part of a University clinical centre, every compulsorily insured person has the possibility to get their dental prosthesis there. Here you will be treated by senior students, as part of applied classes with practice on patients. This takes place under permanent control by experienced dentists who carefully inspect the students' work before and after every step of the treatment. The quality can even be better than that of your dentist, because four or six eyes always see better than two.
The savings potential is enormous, but it varies form clinic to clinic. Some dental clinics will charge you only for the materials themselves, other will also charge discounted manufacturing costs. This can be obtained during the first non-binding visit, after you have been seen by one of the senior physicians.
Should you decide in favor of a treatment there, the start of your treatment can take from a couple of days to several months, because the classes take place only during the semester.
Another drawback lies in the longer duration of the treatment sessions, because every step of the student's work is checked by several senior physicians and they are not always instantly satisfied. But the inexpensive prices can fully make up for the greater expenditure of time.
