1. My dentist is so nice ... should I really switch to another?

Many patients find it hard to change their dentist even when the price differences are greater than 100%. Very often we hear "But my dentist is so nice, ...
Especially very expensive dentists are often very nice. The prices of dental implants, for one and the same service (oral surgery plus implant), range thus from 800 € to 4,000 €. Objectively speaking, such price differences cannot be justified.
You have to ask yourself if a professionally competent, nice, new and inexpensive dentist will also do.

2. Should I "persuade" my dentist to cooperate with an inexpensive laboratory?

No way! If your dentist is not willing to work with our partner labs of his own accord, you shouldn't "convince him somehow". In our experience, this does not bring anybody any good, quite the contrary. Because everybody knows, from their own experiences, that things done against one's will are very rarely successful.
Suggestion: If your dentist refuses your first request in this matter, your only choice is a change of dentist!

3. My dentist says, "only German prostheses are good"?

The production site, a frequently-discussed issue in Germany, is not relevant! To this same conclusion came the zm-online, published by the Federal Dentists' Chamber - Syndicate of German Dentists in cooperation with the Federal Association of Health Insurance Companies(K.d.Ö.R.), in its 06/2006 issue.
Its headline story "Dental prostheses from abroad: The cast mould in altitude flight" reports that the quality of dental prostheses manufactured abroad is absolutely comparable with that of dental prostheses manufactured in Germany. Among other things, it read:

"The dental prostheses from the Far East are regularly checked for heart and kidneys. This subject matter was also adopted by the Professor of Prosthetic Dr. Thomas Kerschbaum of Cologne. In a series of examinations, he generated comparative statistical data regarding the margin fit behaviour of crowns from the pool of the Permadental company. 50 dressed and undressed crowns were extracted at random from a batch which had been prepared for delivery overseas. The margin fit test was conducted on ten measuring points with an electron microscope. The conclusions from the 50 random samples were published in zm 19, 2001, page 44. They showed variations from the margin opening breadths required by the medical literature of less than 100 µm, and belonged to the same order of magnitude as those noticed in representative surveys conducted among German laboratories. This means that the analysed Asian samples matched the average quality delivered by German dental laboratories entirely."

Summary: We have found high-quality inexpensive dental prostheses both in Germany and abroad, but we've also found everywhere the opposite, too. The production site alone is unfortunately not relevant.
